農園の収穫を一度に持ち帰ると、妻が配る先を探すことになる。区画を増やした時は採れる数ばかり考えていた。毎日二人で食べる量には限りがある。来年の植え付けは時期を少しずらせるか、隣の区画の人に聞こうと思う。厨房なら予定の数を作ればよいが、畑は都合のいい日にだけ実がなるわけではない。記録を見返すと、多く採れた日は数しか書いていなかった。誰に何を渡したかも書けば、同じ家へ続けて持っていかずに済む。

I was helping my son revise biology and caught myself asking the question, giving the answer and asking whether he understood, all before he had opened his mouth. He said Mummy, is this revision for you or for me? Fair question! Once I allowed him to explain, he knew more of it than I expected, only not in the order I would teach it. I kept wanting to interrupt at the missing step. The missing step came later. Now I am trying to remember whether I used to do that with my pupils as well. I can organise a whole room to listen, but waiting for one boy to finish apparently needs its own preparation.

লন্ডন থেকে ভাই ফোন করেছিল, তার ছোট ছেলে বাংলায় আমাকে একটা পুরো কথা বলল, আগে শুধু সালাম দিয়েই ফোন ছেড়ে দিত। শুনে খুব ভালো লাগল, দুবার বলতে বলায় বেচারা একটু বিরক্তও হল। ফোনটা মাকে দিয়ে আমি দোকানের দিকে বের হলাম, কিন্তু মন পড়ে থাকল বাড়িতে। সবাই একসঙ্গে যে মাসটা ছিল, তখন ঘর ভর্তি শব্দ নিয়ে কত অভিযোগ করেছি। এখন ফোন শেষ হলে সেই চুপচাপ ভাবটা বেশি লাগে। ভাইয়ের কাছে যাওয়ার কথা উঠলে আমি দোকানের ব্যস্ততার কথা বলি, মিথ্যাও না। তবু আজ মনে হচ্ছিল ওদের রান্নাঘরে বসে এক কাপ চা খেলে ভালো হতো, কোনও হিসাব বা জরুরি খবর ছাড়া। এ কথা ফোনে আর বলা হয়নি।

listened to a podcast where they spent half an hour describing a suspect's car and i caught myself deciding he must have done it because he drove like an asshole. which is not evidence, obviously, or vegas would need another hundred jails. i do the same thing with passengers, nice shoes means convention, no eye contact means trouble, and then somebody wrecks the whole theory by being normal. the episode was still on when i parked and i replayed the part about the time he left. that was actually interesting, two people remembered different things. i wish they'd spent more time on that and less on whether his neighbors liked him

A driver called me unfair today because the car beside his had no ticket. Different restriction, different circumstances, all quite visible if he'd looked instead of performing for the pavement. I explained it once. I've explained it another six times in my head since, with better wording and an audience suddenly willing to listen. That audience is not available in the real high street. I know the facts were right, checked the entry before finishing my shift. Still catches in my mind that he walked away thinking he'd made his point. He probably forgot me before the next set of lights. I can remember his registration without trying, which is an uneven arrangement.

বাবার দোকানে একজন আমার ছাপা চিঠির কাটিংটা পড়ছিলেন। আমি অন্যদিকে তাকিয়ে কাপ মুছছিলাম, কিন্তু কান পুরো ওদিকে। তিনি বাবাকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন ছেলে লিখেছে? বাবা শুধু বললেন হ্যাঁ, তারপর আবার চা বানালেন। এমন সাধারণভাবে বললেন যে প্রথমে একটু খারাপ লেগেছিল, আর দুটো কথা বলতে পারতেন! পরে দেখলাম লোকটা চলে যাওয়ার পর বাবা কাটিংয়ের নিচের খুলে যাওয়া দিকটা আবার আটকে দিলেন। তখন খুব খুশি লাগল, কাউকে বলার মতো কোনও বড় ঘটনা না, তবু মনে থাকল। আমি গিয়ে আঠাটা এগিয়ে দিলাম। আমরা কেউ লেখার কথা তুললাম না, দোকানে তখন পরের চায়ের অর্ডার এসে গেছে।

salimos a bailar y yo iba pensando que con los pies como los tenía después de reponer lácteos no iba a aguantar ni dos canciones, pero empezó una bachata que me sé entera y se me olvidó el taburete de la caja y todo. me gusta notar la cintura suelta, no girarme siempre al mismo lado como buscando la cinta, y que el cuerpo vaya antes que la cabeza por una vez. eso sí, al quitarme los zapatos en casa tenía los dedos apretados como si todavía los llevara puestos jajaja, estuve moviéndolos encima de la funda del sofá mientras mi madre se preparaba para salir de noche, ella me miró y dijo ya verás mañana

He salido a dar el paseo del Pisuerga después de pasar buena parte de la tarde ante el ordenador, y durante los primeros minutos seguía notando la mano derecha algo dormida. La llevaba cerrada dentro del bolsillo, lo cual no debía de ayudar demasiado. Al sacarla y mover los dedos desapareció esa impresión, aunque después me fijé tanto que comprobaba cada poco si había vuelto. El recorrido ha sido el habitual, sin cansancio especial. A la vuelta tenía hambre y los pies calientes, diferencia apreciable respecto al despacho, donde hoy me los he pasado rozando uno con otro debajo de la mesa.

ma meuf a pose un tout petit pyjama sur le lit pour voir avec la couverture et j'ai fait une vanne sur la taille, genre meme le chat rentre pas la dedans. elle a rigole puis elle est repartie dans la chambre du bebe et moi je suis reste a regarder les manches. ca m'a fait bizarre mais bien, j'avais envie de toucher le tissu encore une fois. j'ai envoye la photo a ma mere qui a repondu direct avec quinze coeurs, evidemment. apres j'etais un peu nerveux sans savoir quoi faire de mes mains, alors j'ai fini de monter l'etagere. ma fille aura des bras plus petits que les vis que je venais de ranger, enfin presque

今天第一個學生請假，我沒有去擦琴，坐下來彈了一首自己想彈的。剛開始手指還是涼的，碰到琴鍵有點縮，右手快起來，左手就跟得很勉強，我聽了自己都想說慢一點。後來真的慢下來，指腹貼著琴鍵，肩膀也不必一直撐著，聲音反而厚了一些。大跨度的地方我照自己的手分開，沒有人在旁邊看，也不需要示範一遍就正確。彈完才發現腳一直踩著踏板，襪子在腳底皺成一團，起身時趾頭都想張開。我把襪子拉好，又坐回去彈後面那一小段。不是練習進度，也沒有錄起來，單純是剛才那幾個和弦按下去很舒服，想再按一次，結果第二次沒第一次好聽，有一個音還滑掉了。
