I am trying to work out where a small desk could go for my daughter without making our room impossible to walk through. In a hotel I see the whole space quickly, but at home every chair is doing two jobs and nothing can simply go into storage. My cousin suggested a folding table. I started listing why it would wobble, then realised I hadn't looked at one yet. We measured the bit of wall beside the window with a piece of string because the tape measure had disappeared. There is more space than I thought, just not where I wanted it. I have kept the string in my bag for when we pass the furniture stalls.

Mi nene trajo una cuenta de la escuela hecha de una forma que no entiendo, con flechas y números separados, y yo quería enseñarle como me enseñaron a mí. Me dijo que la maestra no lo quiere así. Bueno, pero el resultado da igual, ¿o no? Estuve mirando el cuaderno cuando se durmió y hay un paso que me falta entender, no es solamente cambiar los números de lugar. Me jode no poder explicárselo enseguida, él me pregunta confiado como si yo supiera todo. Mañana le voy a pedir a una compañera que tiene una hija más grande que me muestre; a la maestra todavía no sé cómo preguntarle sin parecer que la estoy discutiendo.

儿子说这周不回来，要跟师傅去看一辆修不好的车。我说学东西要紧，挂了电话又去看冰箱，排骨已经解冻了，两个人吃也不是吃不完，就是心里有点没着落。本来想问他是不是没钱坐车，想想问出来他又要烦，上次回来刚讲过工资够用。我切菜切得声音很响，老公以为厂里又少算钱了，我说没有。确实不是生气，儿子肯跟着学，我应该高兴的。可我连星期天早上买什么都想好了，突然不用买，空下来反而不知道干什么。后来他发来一张拆开的发动机，说找到问题了，我看不懂，还是回了个好。排骨一半煮了，一半装盒，这次不留到下周，他什么时候回来再买新的。

A friend sent pictures of the place he's renting in the city, three other guys and a couch that looks worse than ours. He sounded so excited that I felt bad for being jealous. Not of the couch, obviously. Just how he can decide who comes over and what time he gets home without it turning into a family discussion. I like living here, and I know how much money it saves. Both things are true and neither stopped me feeling left behind for a while. Mom asked who I was texting and I said nobody important, which wasn't fair to him or her. I sent him a message saying the place looked good. It does, in a messy sort of way. I'd like to visit.

J'avais une vraie coupure entre deux visites et je me suis assis pour manger, ce qui paraît banal mais change tout par rapport à la banane avalée debout près de la voiture. Au début je continuais à bouger un pied, prêt à repartir, puis la faim est arrivée franchement et j'ai trouvé le sandwich bien meilleur que prévu. Mes mains tiraient un peu après les lavages, surtout entre les doigts, alors j'ai remis de la crème avant de reprendre mon sac. Les épaules avaient eu le temps de redescendre. La deuxième partie de la tournée n'était pas plus courte, mais je ne l'ai pas commencée avec le ventre vide et les dents serrées.

My grandson asked when he could come back before his visit was over. I was pleased. I had also been watching the clock, because two hours of questions is about my limit even when I like the person asking them. Told him Saturday would work. My daughter said she could leave him longer if I wanted. I said the same two hours were fine and saw her waiting for something else, so I added that I enjoyed having him. Apparently that sentence was useful. After they left I put away the tools and left the small unfinished circuit on his side of the bench. Quiet house again. Also good.

J'ai repris la petite guitare près du canapé après le repas, sans ampli, juste pour jouer un morceau jusqu'au bout sans m'arrêter sur un défaut. Les doigts étaient un peu raides au début, puis ils ont retrouvé les écarts tout seuls pendant que mon avant-bras se posait sur le bois encore frais. Ça m'a fait du bien de sentir une vibration contre les côtes sans devoir décider si elle était normale ou s'il fallait démonter quelque chose. Au magasin, mes mains cherchent toujours ce qui accroche. Là, elles avaient seulement à suivre. Bon, j'ai quand même fini par entendre une corde qui frisait. Je l'ai jouée moins fort pour ne pas me lever chercher les outils.

The cold metal handle of the cart felt good for about three seconds this morning, before my fingers decided it was too cold to enjoy. By the end of service my forearms were hot from the griddle and I wanted that cold back. Funny range of temperatures for a person who barely moved ten feet. After cleaning I sat in the car with the window open and ate the burrito I'd kept for myself. I could feel how hungry I was after the first bite, not before. My thumbs were tender from wrapping, so I let the foil sit open on my lap. There was nobody waiting and no reason to fold it neatly. I stayed there until I'd finished the whole thing.

Une cliente est revenue avec la bague que j'avais réparée, je la vois entrer toute sérieuse et déjà je m'énerve dans ma tête, qu'est-ce qu'elle va encore trouver. Elle venait me montrer la photo de sa fille qui la porte maintenant. Peuchère, j'ai eu l'air d'un âne avec mon discours tout prêt sur les précautions à prendre ! Elle a agrandi la photo, on voyait à peine la bague mais la fille riait. Ça m'a fait tarpin plaisir. J'ai appelé le petit de l'atelier pour qu'il regarde aussi. Il a dit très beau travail, le petit savait exactement ce qu'il faisait, mais j'étais content quand même !

النهارده لقيت مكان قدام في الميكروباص فقعدت أبص للطريق بدل الموبايل، فرق كبير بجد، نزلت من غير الدوخة اللي بتخليني أكره أول محاضرة قبل ما تبدأ. كنت ناوية أشتغل شوية كروشيه بس صوابعي كانت عايزة إجازة من شنطة امبارح. حطيت إيدي على الشنطة وخلاص، حتى السنارة سكتت ههههه. بعد السكشن مشيت مع البنات للمحطة وحسيت بالجوع مرة واحدة، مش مجرد نفسي في كشري، لا أنا محتاجة أكل حالاً. قعدنا ناكل المرة دي مش واقفين والميكروباص بيزمر لنا. رجعت وشعري تحت الحجاب سخن وفكيت الدبابيس أول ما دخلت، راحة غريبة من حاجات صغيرة أوي كانت ضاغطة طول اليوم.
