Beim Darts hat der erste Wurf noch ausgeschaut, als würd ich einen Karton ins obere Regal befördern. Schulter ganz steif. Nach zwei Legs ging die Bewegung leichter, nur die Finger waren vom vielen Auspacken rau und der Pfeil blieb einmal blöd hängen. Hab mich zwischendurch hingesetzt, die Füße waren vom Stehen in der Apotheke noch beleidigt. Im Beisl merk ich das erst, wenn ich nicht mehr muss. Heimweg zu Fuß bis zur nächsten Station, kühle Luft ins Gesicht, gar nicht so übel. Daheim Fenster auf, Schuhe aus. Die Kleine hat gleich ihre zweite Decke geholt. Unsere bewährte Klimaverhandlung, ohne viele Worte.

makhulu says one of the calves keeps getting through the fence near the water drum. i told her we need to fix that gap properly then remembered i tied wire there myself in december and said it was sorted. so before i start giving university advice over the phone i need my cousin to send me a picture lol. could be the same place or the post next to it. im trying to draw that corner from memory and i know exactly where the stones are but not how far apart the posts stand. funny what stays in your head. i can see the calf looking at us from the wrong side already

Mi madre me discutió por teléfono la interpretación de un cuento que le había mandado, y terminamos riéndonos porque yo pretendía explicarle un personaje que a ella le recordaba a tres vecinos de Salto. Me gusta que no me conceda nada por cansancio, aunque la acuse de hacerlo conmigo desde que tengo memoria. Después de cortar me quedó una alegría simple, bastante menos interesante de explicar que mis habituales irritaciones. Habíamos hablado sin que yo revisara la hora ni ella me preguntara cuándo iba a ir. Igual me dieron ganas de ir. No porque necesite hacerle ningún favor, que es la excusa que suelo encontrar para cosas así.

Out at the weir early with the boy. Sat on the folding chair until my right knee started complaining, then stood up slowly and pretended I wanted a better look at the line. He offered his chair, which is the same model as mine, so not much engineering advantage there. Nice to have the sun on my back without a ladder involved. After a while I took the boots off and put my feet flat in the grass. Could feel where the socks had been tight all week. Didn't catch anything worth mentioning, but got home hungry and properly awake instead of stiff from another morning in the van. The boy reckons we need different bait. Might need a different fisherman.

Pas de pluie pis congé, j'ai lavé mon camion dans l'entrée au lieu de payer pour qu'on oublie les bas de portes. À force de tenir le boyau le coude a commencé à tirer, pas assez pour arrêter mais assez pour me faire changer de main. Mon chum m'a demandé pourquoi je faisais la face. Quelle face. Apparemment celle qui dit de pas venir me parler. J'ai fini les vitres avec le bras gauche pis j'ai passé dix minutes à regarder les traces au soleil sans y retoucher. C'est ça le pire, le bras est correct quand je le laisse tranquille, mais mes yeux continuent de trouver de l'ouvrage. Le camion va rester propre croche jusqu'à demain.

My granddaughter sent a picture of a shelf she put up herself. I enlarged it to check whether it was level before saying anything. Then I noticed her grin in the mirror behind it. Told her it looked good. It did. She sent back three hearts, which seems excessive payment for four words. I was tickled anyway. Almost asked what anchors she had used. Left it alone until she brought up the installation herself. I like being asked about a thing I know. I also liked the first picture, before there was a question attached. Kept looking at it while the television talked to itself.

My daughter sent a picture of a bird at her place in Texas and asked me what it was. The photo is mostly fence, which does narrow it down to something that can sit on a fence. I enlarged it until all I had were colored squares, then got the bird book out because there was something about the head that didn't fit my first guess. Now I'm wondering whether the light has made an ordinary bird look unusual. She says the grandson thinks it's a hawk. He has confidence, I'll give him that. I've asked for another picture, preferably one that includes the actual bird, before I attach my name to an answer.

el hijo mandó un audio desde Houston nomás para contar que había hecho frijoles y no le quedaron como los de su mamá. lo puso mi señora en la tienda y nos reímos porque empezó muy seguro y acabó preguntando qué le faltaba. a mí me dio gusto oírlo platicar así sin hablar de dinero ni de trabajo. luego lo volví a poner cuando ella salió por una caja, se oye una cuchara moviéndose mientras habla y hasta parece que está en la cocina de arriba. le mandé decir que acá le guardamos un plato. ya sé que no va a venir por ese plato pero me gusta decírselo de todos modos

Mi hija me ha dicho que una compañera de la facultad quiere conocerme porque le cuenta cosas mías, y yo tan contento hasta que la niña ha empezado a enumerar las cosas: que saludo a los perros por su nombre, que aplaudo cuando sale bien la paella y que una vez me despedí tres veces del mismo vecino. Vamos a ver, yo pensaba que hablaba de su padre maestro. Me ha dado un poco de corte, no digo que no, pero ella lo contaba riéndose de una manera que daba gusto escucharla. Le he dicho que traiga a la compañera el domingo. Mi mujer, desde la cocina, ha dicho que primero cuente las sillas.

My son asked another question about his dad's plane, how to hold it so it didn't take too much wood. I could have sent him straight to Grandad, who knows, but I stood beside him looking at the thing first. He seemed pleased just to have it out on the table, and that made me pleased too, until I wanted his dad there so sharply I had to fetch something from the kitchen. Nothing needed fetching. Came back and said we'd ask Grandad together. The boy carried on talking about what he wanted to make. I was glad he could. I didn't want a solemn evening, only another pair of hands at the table, the ones that ought to have been teaching him.
