My daughter asked whether I could watch her skate without giving her tips this time. Said it nicely, which almost made it worse. I was a little put out, since helping is what I thought I was doing, and then pretty pleased that she still wanted me there. Stayed by the boards and kept my mouth shut, mostly. She made a turn she'd been working on and looked over to check whether I'd seen it. That was a good moment. I told Kate about the turn at supper and left out the part where an eight-year-old had to explain the difference between her dad and her coach to me.

Première nuit dans mon appartement après le débarquement. Le lit ne bougeait évidemment pas, mais dès que je fermais les yeux mes jambes continuaient à corriger un mouvement qui n'existait plus. J'ai fini par poser les pieds au sol, juste pour sentir quelque chose de fixe. Plus tard, sous la douche, j'ai encore écarté les appuis sans y penser. Ce n'est pas vraiment désagréable, plutôt une habitude qui met du temps à sortir du corps. Ce matin j'ai marché jusqu'à la boulangerie sans sac ni chaussures de sécurité. Mes épaules me semblaient légères. En revanche, le bruit d'un camion m'a fait chercher pendant une seconde d'où venait cette vibration.

she came past while the guys were buying amagwinya and called me by my name, not chef or businessman or all these titles they give me when they want credit. i was happy hey, too happy probably because i forgot whose change i was holding. then one guy started making wedding noises and she left quite quickly. now im irritated with him but also with myself because i laughed along instead of telling him to chill. sent her a message about the food like thats what i actually wanted to ask. she replied it was nice. two words and now im reading them like exam instructions

রাতে ফোনে presentation-এর লেখা ঠিক করতে করতে কখন যে অনেকক্ষণ কুঁজো হয়ে বসেছিলাম বুঝিনি। ঘাড় সোজা করতে গিয়ে টান লাগল, চোখের পেছনেও ব্যথা। রুমমেট বলল বাতি জ্বালিয়ে পড়তে, কিন্তু ওরা ঘুমাচ্ছিল বলে শুধু ফোনের আলোতেই করছিলাম। সকালে টিউশনে গিয়ে ছাত্রের খাতার ছোট সংখ্যাগুলো দেখতে কয়েকবার চোখ কচলাতে হয়েছে। সাধারণত নিজের শরীর নিয়ে ভাবি না, কাজ শেষ হলেই বিশ্রাম হবে মনে করি, অথচ একটা কাজ শেষ হলে আরেকটা এসে যায়। আজ দুপুরে বই খুলেও কিছুক্ষণ তাকাইনি, বিছানায় শুয়েছিলাম। ঘুম আসেনি, তবে উঠে বসে ঘাড় ঘোরাতে আগের মতো টান লাগেনি। আম্মুকে বললে আবার খাওয়ার কথাই বলবে, তাই বলিনি।

Девочка с логарифмами принесла мне маленькую открытку, сама нарисовала кота на учебнике, то есть изобразила наш обычный учебный процесс с натуры! Я так обрадовалась, что сразу начала искать, куда поставить, и опрокинула карандашницу. Девочка помогла собрать, потом мы всё-таки занялись. Но я весь урок поглядывала на этого нарисованного нахала. Приятно, когда приходят не только за баллами, хотя за баллы я тоже очень даже выступаю. Дочери вечером показала, она сказала, что кот похож. Не спросила, почему на столе опять гора бумаги. За это отдельное спасибо, без открытки, устно.

Skated a few laps after helping the kids collect pucks and remembered how good it feels not to stop every six feet to explain something. The pull through my legs was even, shoulders loose, cold air reaching the top of my shirt as I picked up a little speed. My son tried to catch me, so I slowed down enough to make it interesting without announcing it. Off the ice, my feet felt wide and warm coming out of the skates. No particular ache, just pleasantly used. I stood talking in the parking lot longer than planned and only noticed the cold once the heat from skating had worn off.

Au cours d'arabe j'arrive à reconnaître une sourate parce que je la connais déjà, mais si on me montre un mot tout seul je bloque. Je me demandais si je lisais vraiment ou si ma mémoire faisait tout le boulot à la place. J'ai essayé de cacher le reste de la ligne avec une feuille, et là c'est beaucoup plus lent. Un peu vexant, franchement. Ma cousine dit que les deux peuvent aider, ça veut pas dire que tout ce que j'ai appris est faux. Je crois que je voulais une réponse avec oui ou non, comme pour vérifier un calcul. Demain je reprendrai quelques mots séparés, pas toute la page. Mon petit frère veut me faire réciter, il aime beaucoup trop être celui qui sait où j'en suis.

La coiffeuse a bien serré devant et maintenant je peux même pas lever les sourcils sans sentir mes tresses tirer. Ma copine dit que c'est beau alors je fais comme si ça ne gêne pas. Mais en classe quand je posais la tête sur ma main pour lire je cherchais le côté où ça tire moins au lieu de regarder le texte. Le soir chez ma tante j'ai mis de l'eau sur mon visage et je suis restée avec les mains fraîches sur les tempes. Elle a dit qu'il faut lui dire quand elle serre trop. Je le sais ! Seulement quand je suis assise là je veux que ce soit fini et joli aussi.

trying to choose a book for my college lesson assignment and i keep picking ones i loved as a kid then realizing i don't remember the actual story, just where i sat when someone read it to me
i want to do a prediction activity but if the cover basically tells you the ending that is not exactly a mystery lol
my sister says second graders don't care about the font on my worksheet, rude but probably correct
spent forty minutes changing it anyway and now i have two pretty headings and no questions
i think i'll read both books out loud to my brother and see where he interrupts, he has never once needed encouragement for that

طلعت للطابق الثالث ومعايا غير خبزة وكيس طماطم، وفي الثاني وقفت شوية. الجارة قالت واش راك تستنى، قلت لها نشوف إذا دارو المصعد وأنا ما علاباليش. ضحكت وراحت وأنا بقيت حتى رجع النفس. ماشي الحمل اللي ثقيل، رجليا اليوم ما حبوش السلالم. كي وصلت نزعت الصباط وقعدت في الشرفة، الهوا جا بارد بين صوابعي وحسيت روحي مرتاح. الوزيرة قالت لي ما تميلش الكرسي على الحيط، راني نسمعها من سبعة وثلاثين سنة. عدلته هاذ المرة، ظهري كان باغي قعدة مليحة وماشي استعراض. بقيت نسمع الراديو حتى بردت الطماطم في الكيس ونسيتها تما.
