امی نے ایک پرانی تصویر دکھائی جس میں ابا دکان کے باہر کھڑے ہیں اور میں ان کے ساتھ چھوٹا سا نظر آ رہا ہوں۔ میں فوراً سال درست کرنے لگا، پھر امی نے کہا پہلے دیکھ تو لو، تم نے ان کا ہاتھ پکڑا ہوا ہے۔ واقعی پکڑا ہوا تھا۔ مجھے اس دن کی کوئی یاد نہیں، مگر تصویر دیکھ کر اچھا لگا اور کچھ اداسی بھی ہوئی۔ اب دکان جاتا ہوں تو رسیدیں درست کرتا ہوں یا دواؤں کا پوچھتا ہوں، ان کے پاس بیٹھنے کا کوئی نہ کوئی مقصد رکھتا ہوں۔ آج تصویر کی نقل مانگی۔ امی خوش ہوئیں کہ آخر تاریخ کے علاوہ بھی کچھ پسند آیا۔ میں نے بات ہنسی میں گزار دی، تصویر دوبارہ رات کو دیکھی۔

My husband brought home pedhas because my site bill was finally cleared. I had mentioned the delay once at dinner, and assumed he was listening to the news. He remembered the amount also. I corrected him on the amount before saying thank you, which was unnecessary. Felt quite pleased afterwards. No big occasion, no promotion, just something troublesome finished. Our daughter took the largest piece and said now please don't discuss bills while eating sweets. We all laughed. I wanted to tell him it was nice that he remembered, but by then he had gone to change. Kept two pieces separately for him instead of putting everything in the common box.

I was helping our new administrator find a set of access keys and realised my directions included the words 'the drawer we don't use'. We use it constantly. It only has that name because something else was kept there before she joined. Now I'm wondering how much of the office runs on information that sounds obvious to the rest of us and makes no sense to someone new. I started a little list, but she suggested putting labels on the drawers first, which was annoyingly sensible. Maybe both. A label won't explain why one key is in an envelope, but at least it will get her to the right cupboard.

Une fille du TD m'a gardé une place alors que je ne lui avais rien demandé. J'ai d'abord cherché pourquoi, puis elle a simplement poussé son sac et continué à parler du cours. Ça m'a fait plaisir, plus que je ne voulais montrer. J'ai sorti mes feuilles tout de suite pour avoir quelque chose à faire, au lieu de rester là avec mon sourire un peu bête. On a travaillé ensemble après et elle ne m'a pas demandé de lui envoyer toutes mes fiches. Je précise parce que c'était mon premier soupçon. Je ne dis pas qu'on est devenues proches en une matinée. Seulement, je suis rentrée contente et je n'ai pas trouvé de raison de me méfier de ce moment-là.

Beryl found something fascinating on the domain walk and stopped dead just as I was stepping off the path, gave my whole arm a tug, honestly you'd think she was towing a stock truck. I was fine but my shoulder stayed up by my ear for the next hundred metres. Once she settled down I did too, walked home with the wind in my face and my cardigan open because I was suddenly boiling. Then cold by our gate, naturally. Craig had the heater on and I stood in the doorway deciding whether I wanted the house warmer or myself colder. Neither of us could win that conversation.

妈妈送来的饭盒里多放了两个鸡腿，说弟弟现在懂事了，专门给我留的。我拿着盒子很想哭，又不太高兴，明明才回学校没几天，怎么吃个饭也像全家都在等我考好。我知道这话不能跟她说，她肯定会难过，而且我也是真的想吃她做的饭。后来给弟弟发消息问他是不是没吃上肉，他说吃了别的，还问我能不能帮他看一道题。我一下松了口气，好像自己终于不只是那个需要被照顾的复读生。题没多难，我给他讲了两遍，他最后回了个敷衍的表情，和平时一样，倒让我觉得舒服。

Dry morning, enough wind to keep the allotment from feeling warm. I worked with the small fork rather than the spade and found a pace the knee would allow, kneeling pad shifted along a bit at a time. My hands were cold till the second row, then warm inside the gloves and quite willing. It's the getting up that's a performance now. Once upright I still feel strong across the shoulders, stronger than some folk expect when they see the stairs trouble. Came home puggled and sat while my partner made tea. Could feel the work in my arms when I lifted the mug. No particular complaint about that. The ground was better than when I arrived.

Une habituée m'a demandé si j'avais changé de coiffure. Elle l'a dit simplement, en posant son sac, et j'ai passé la main dans mes cheveux comme si quelque chose dépassait. Je n'avais rien changé, seulement pris le temps de les attacher autrement. Elle a dit que cela m'allait bien. Toute la soirée j'y ai pensé, avec un petit plaisir que je n'osais pas garder longtemps. C'est peu de chose à raconter, je sais. En rentrant, ma mère dormait déjà et je me suis regardée dans la petite glace du couloir avant de défaire mes cheveux, pour voir ce que cette dame avait remarqué.

شام کو چھت پر چائے لے کر بیٹھی تو پہلی بار خیال آیا کہ آج ہوا ٹھنڈی ہے۔ نیچے مشین کے پاس تو پنکھا چلنے کے باوجود کپڑا بار بار بازو سے چپک رہا تھا۔ دوپٹے کی گرفت ڈھیلی کی اور دونوں ہاتھ گود میں رکھے، نہ قینچی پکڑی نہ فون۔ امی کچھ بتا رہی تھیں، میں سن رہی تھی مگر جواب دینے میں بھی سستی ہو رہی تھی، اچھی والی سستی، جیسے کوئی کام فوراً ضروری نہیں۔ چائے زیادہ گرم تھی اس لیے آہستہ پی۔ انگلیوں پر کپ کا گرم حصہ اچھا لگا، حالانکہ دن بھر گرمی کی شکایت کی تھی۔ نیچے سے شاگرد کا چھوڑا ہوا پیمانہ یاد آیا، پھر سوچا صبح بھی وہیں مل جائے گا۔ ابھی سیڑھیاں اترنے کا دل نہیں تھا۔

mau bikin kartu kecil buat temen yg beli cupang soalnya mereka nanya hal yg sama terus tapi kalo tulis panjang kayak buku IPA pasti gk dibaca termasuk gw wkwk ibu bilang gambar aja bagian pentingnya nah itu bisa tapi gambar ikan gw malah mirip cabai kakak bilang bisa bantu asal gw gk masuk kamarnya sembarangan padahal dia masuk kamar gw tiap hari mau gw bikin satu dulu terus kasih temen baca tanpa gw jelasin kalo dia masih bingung berarti kartunya jelek bukan dia yg bego soalnya kemarin gw udah jelasin panjang dia tetep nanya lagi
