前髪の客が帰り際に予約の確認をしてから小さな声で言った。ここでは喋らなくていいので助かります。愛想がないと言われることには慣れたがそれは初めてだった。私も会話を続けるのは得意じゃない。だからといって客に黙ってほしいわけでもないが今日は静かなまま切れて楽だった。そう言ってもらえて少し安心した。返事はいつも通りになってしまった。次も同じ時間ですね。それだけ。鏡の前ではちゃんと頷いたつもり。帰って母に話したら喜んだ顔をすればよかったのにと言われた。顔まで予約制にはできんたい。

The owner's nephew came in late and was introduced to a supplier as the person handling our team. I was beside him holding the stock list I'd prepared. I smiled, even made a joke, but I was vexed. He isn't useless, that's the annoying part, I can't even say he knows nothing. Still, when a customer needs a difficult size or an order has gone missing, who do they call? Me. I wanted somebody to notice without my having to stand there advertising myself. Bisi said I should ask exactly what his role is. Sensible advice, but tonight I didn't want a sensible answer, I wanted her to agree that the whole thing was irritating. She did eventually. I may have told the story twice.

je voudrais montrer une réparation simple à une gamine du quartier qui pose plein de questions, sauf que mon simple à moi suppose déjà qu'on sache où mettre les doigts et ce qu'il faut surtout pas tirer. j'ai sorti un appareil hors service pour expliquer et je me suis entendue dire tu vois sans vérifier qu'elle voyait quoi que ce soit. elle m'a demandé pourquoi je faisais ça avant l'autre étape. bonne question en fait, j'ai dû reprendre depuis le début au lieu de réciter mes gestes. j'aime bien qu'elle demande pourquoi, moins quand la réponse est parce que j'ai toujours fait comme ça. va falloir que mon cerveau suive mes mains si je veux transmettre un truc.

My daughter rang while I was putting tea together and asked what I'd cooked, not how the green was going. I gave her the weather first anyway. She stayed on the line while I ate and told me some small trouble at her work I couldn't make much of, but I liked having her talking. After we hung up, the kitchen seemed a bit ordinary. Four years since Norma died and I can manage my own tea, that's not the trouble. It's having somebody to tell that the shop sent the wrong thing or the kettle's taking ages. Nothing worth making a special phone call over, apparently, though my daughter had just spent twenty minutes doing exactly that.

في التدريب اليوم عمي خلّاني نخدم على الخروج للكرة موش على الغطسات برك. أول كرتين يدي كانت مشدودة وزايد ماسك القفازات، بعد وليت نخرج بالوقت ونشدها قدّامي من غير ما نطيح كل مرة. كي الكورة تجي في وسط الكفين وتحسها ثابتة، الإحساس باهي. ركبتـي ما قلقتنيش، أما في الرجعة ساقي ثقيلة شوية. قعدت في المترو وما حليتش الروبيك، خليت يدي ترتاح. في الدار شربت الماء وبدلت دبشي قبل ما نقعد للمراجعة، كنت باش نبدأ مباشرة وأمي قالت ريحتك ريحة ملعب كامل. عندها الحق المرة هاذي. توة الأصابع لاباس والظهر أحسن من نهار نقعد فيه ستة سوايع فوق الكرسي.

Das Treffen mit den ehemaligen Kolleginnen fiel aus, eine krank, eine beim Enkel. Ich sagte am Telefon, dann hätten wir eben alle einen freien Nachmittag. Stimmte auch, nur hatte ich mich schon angezogen und die Ohrringe herausgelegt. In der Wohnung war es plötzlich ausgesprochen still. Ich wollte meine Tochter anrufen, fand aber keinen vernünftigen Anlass und ließ es. Als ob man für einen Anruf einen Dienstauftrag bräuchte. Später bin ich allein ins Café gegangen und habe mich über den viel zu dünnen Kaffee geärgert. Das war wenigstens ein vertrautes Gefühl. Die Ohrringe hatte ich angelassen. Ganz umsonst wollte ich mich nun auch nicht fertig gemacht haben.

J'ai voulu suivre le petit-fils jusqu'au bout du chemin avec le chien, soi-disant une promenade tranquille, sauf qu'à son âge on court jusqu'au poteau puis on attend le vieux ! Mes jambes vont encore, c'est quand il faut s'accroupir pour regarder sa trouvaille que les genoux discutent. On a rapporté une plume toute mouillée et j'avais bien chaud sous ma veste en rentrant. Annick dit que je pourrais enlever une couche avant d'être trempé. Elle n'a pas tort mais dehors je ne sens rien, et puis le vent change vite par chez nous. Le chien, lui, dormait avant que j'aie défait mes chaussures.

bukan malas menyapu dua kali tapi kalau bisa sekali kenapa cari tambahan sendiri
sapu lidi yang lama masih bagus cuma ikatannya longgar saya bawa pulang mau saya betulkan
istri lihat sapu langsung bilang genteng sendiri kapan dibetulkan
ya itu pekerjaan lain Bu jangan semua dimasukkan hari ini
tapi benar juga sebelum hujan lagi mesti saya lihat yang bocor sebelah mana

My sister brought flowers to the folks and Mom has mentioned them on THREE separate calls, which is lovely, really, flowers are nice. I took Dad for his appointment, got the prescription, and returned the pants that didn't fit. No arrangement needed for that I guess. Then Mom asked if I could come early Tuesday because she wanted more time with me, not because she needed anything, she actually specified that. Well now I feel petty, but also she can enjoy the flowers and mention the pants once. Both things could happen. I'm going early. I was going to anyway.

Сын прислал чертёж детали, спросил, удобно ли такое делать на станке. По размерам всё правильно, а крепить неудобно, сразу видно. Объяснил, он понял. Потом подумал, что сам бы его расчёт не сделал, хотя железо знаю давно. На заводе молодым инженерам это редко говорю. Там обычно сначала вижу, что они не учли, остальное принимаю как должное. Сыну тоже начал с замечания. Может, так и надо, он за делом обратился, не за похвалой. Но интересно было смотреть, как из того, что он рассказал по телефону, получилась понятная вещь на бумаге. У меня сначала в руках представляется, у него иначе.
