El padre ha traído café al taller y se ha quedado mirando cómo ajustaba un cajón. No ha dicho nada hasta que lo he probado, entonces ha pasado la mano por el frente y ha asentido. Pues me he quedado contento toda la mañana. Tengo cuarenta y un años y todavía me hace ilusión ese gesto suyo. Luego ha empezado a decirme dónde tenía que guardar unos listones y ya me ha fastidiado un poco, porque los acababa de dejar allí a propósito. Se lo he dicho demasiado seco. A la hora de comer he pasado a buscarlo en vez de subir solo. No hemos hablado del cajón ni de los listones. Ha venido sin hacerse de rogar.

في القهوة رجعنا نهدروا على ماتش قديم للمولودية، أنا متأكد الهدف جا في آخر الوقت وصاحبي يقول قبل الراحة. هو يحكي بثقة كأنه كان الحكم، وأنا نتفكر الناس واقفة وما قدرتش نشوف مليح غير كي طلع الصياح. يمكن خلطت بين زوج مقابلات، بصح هو ثاني يخلط وما يعترفش. رحنا نبحثو في الهاتف، كل واحد لقى فيديو ماشي هو المطلوب وزاد شرح. الدومينو بقى فوق الطابلة بلا ما نكملوه. قلت غدوة نسقسي واحد كان معايا في المدرجات، وإن شاء الله يتفكر نفس الحكاية تاعي، ما نحتاجش شاهد ثالث يزيد يعقدها.

Took my shoes off after the last flight and could still feel the edges of them across my feet, even walking barefoot to the hotel bathroom. Three legs doesn't sound like much until you count all the time standing while boarding has gone nowhere. I had this big plan to use the treadmill, but sitting on the bed to change my socks turned into sitting there for twenty minutes with one sock on. My roommate on the trip knocked to ask about dinner and I actually needed a second to stand up. Twenty-seven and making the same noise as Mama getting out of her chair. Still went for food, just picked the place downstairs.

My daughter asked me to explain one customs case for her school work and actually took notes while I talked. Usually by the rubber duck part she has already left the table. I felt quite pleased lah, tried not to give her the full twenty-six years in one answer. Then she asked a question I hadn't thought about, whether two people can look at the same thing and both have a reasonable answer. Good question. Told my wife later, she said our girl asks good questions all the time if you stop doing puns long enough to hear them. Fair enough, but the duck one fitted the topic very well.

Je suis rentré du travail avec envie de dormir et, une fois couché, j'avais trop chaud sous le drap et froid dès que le ventilateur passait sur mon dos. Je le laisse tourner surtout pour couvrir les bruits dans l'appartement, sinon j'entends une porte et mes yeux s'ouvrent. Mon frère a voulu l'éteindre en sortant, je lui ai fait signe de laisser. Après j'ai trouvé une position sur le côté, un bout du drap sur le ventre, et c'était bon. C'est bizarre comme je peux somnoler dans le bus sans aucun confort et passer autant de temps à m'installer dans mon propre lit.

At the lodge tiredness stays in the feet, this one was everywhere and I could feel my heartbeat slowing while the others argued. Somebody passed water and it tasted better than anything from that fancy dining room. Walking home I was loose and heavy at the same time, carrying the boots by their laces because I wanted air between my toes. Reached my room and discovered sitting on the mattress was easy, standing again was a whole second match, no substitutes available.

Mr Prosser came by and asked after the children before he asked after the farm. Usually we get straight onto machinery and stay there. Told him the girl was getting on well at school and he said he remembered me bringing in the photo when she was born. Didn't know he'd remember that. Felt quite chuffed, to be honest. We stood by the pickup talking a while and he said to bring them round one afternoon. I said we would, then realised I'd said that last time as well. Told my wife when I got in so it might actually happen. She asked what day. I hadn't got that far. Mr Prosser would call that a job half done and he'd have a point.

À la chorale j'ai mis un moment à sortir une note propre, gorge sèche et épaules encore montées comme si j'attendais de poser un plafonnier. Le chef de chœur nous a fait reprendre doucement et j'ai senti l'air passer plus librement, enfin autre chose que pousser pour être entendue au fond du chantier. À la fin du morceau j'étais chaude jusque dans le dos, mais détendue. Le chauffeur disait que j'avais encore assez de voix pour commenter tout le trajet du retour, il n'avait pas tort ! En arrivant j'ai bu un verre d'eau et laissé les devis fermés cinq minutes, histoire de garder un peu ce souffle-là avant de recommencer à compter les prises.

Tried drawing at the kitchen table instead of on the bed and lasted about twenty minutes before noticing I had folded myself into exactly the same shape I use over a stubborn brake. Chin out, shoulders forward, pencil gripped like it might escape. Shook my hand out and changed chairs. It's funny that something I do for fun can leave me feeling as cramped as work, just without grease. My roommate put music on while cooking and I kept drawing, this time with my arm resting on the table. The line got less precise but my hand felt better. There is probably a good chair somewhere in this apartment. We have plenty of wheels.

爸发了张照片过来，还是上次我带他去钓鱼的地方，这回他自己去了，桶里有两条不大的鱼。我看了好几遍，先觉得安逸，他总算肯出来耍，不是一天到晚在家说腰不好干不了活。后来又有点说不上来的不舒服，照片是姐姐转给我的，说爸让她看看鱼，没直接发给我。我给他发了个钓得不错，他隔了挺久回一个嗯，跟我平时回他一模一样。也没什么大事，两条鱼，又不是拿了奖，但我原本以为下次还是我们两个去。老婆看我一直开那张图，问是不是羡慕人家钓到了，我说有点，其实不全是这个，讲起来又觉得小气，就把手机收了。晚上他打电话来问那天用的鱼饵叫什么，我接得快，结果只讲了鱼饵，讲完还等着他问点别的，最后是我先说了你早点休息。
