Emotion
The girl from art club asked if the drawing on my notebook was our school or a made-up building. I said it was supposed to be a garage, which was a really complete conversation until she asked another question. We talked for a few minutes and I was nervous but not as bad as I expected. Then somebody called her and she left. I kept thinking I should have asked about her drawing instead of explaining the door measurements. My sister says that still counts as talking. I know. I'm pretty happy about it actually, even if reading this makes it sound like a report about a garage. I'll say hi next time. Probably without the measurements.
Mind
I saw an old pickup for sale and worked out how many grocery shifts it would take to get close to the price. Dad asked whether I'd included the things it would need after buying it. I had included gas, which apparently isn't the whole list. There were photos of the outside but nothing useful underneath, so now I'm looking at the pictures differently. A shiny hood doesn't tell me if I'd spend all my money and then park it for six months. Still want to go look. I wrote down a few questions so I won't just stand there nodding if the seller starts talking fast. The envelope in my drawer is staying there for now.
Body
Stayed after practice to shoot free throws and got into that part where the ball feels the same coming off my fingers every time. Not that every shot went in. I was just breathing slower between them instead of trying to fix three things at once. My calves were tired from the running earlier, and when I sat on the bleachers they started doing that little twitch. Walked home hungry enough that I could smell dinner before I got through our door. My brother grabbed my arm to show me something and said I was sweaty, like this was information I needed. Shower felt good. Now my legs feel heavy and I don't want to get up for the charger across the room.
