Body
i sat on my foot for most of a comic page and then tried to get up when the dog wanted out, which was an extremely bad sequence of events. my leg had gone completely numb and i had to stand holding the desk while the prickly feeling came back. the dog stared at me like i was taking a personal stand against doors. after we got outside my neck started hurting too, probably because i lean closer to the tablet when i'm drawing faces even though zoom exists. walking helped more than i expected. i could actually look over my shoulder without moving my whole body by the time we got home. still put the same foot under me when i sat down again, caught it halfway.
Mind
the next comic scene is supposed to be an argument, but every version i draw makes one character obviously right and the other sound like she wandered in just to be wrong. i know what both of them want, i just keep giving all the good lines to the one i like more. tried writing the scene without pictures and it got even worse because now everyone was making speeches. i think i need something smaller happening while they talk, an actual reason they can't just leave the room, instead of adding another page of explanations. i keep opening other artists' comics for help and then comparing the art instead. that's a completely different problem and not the one this page needs me to solve tonight.
Emotion
someone left a comment asking when a side character in my comic would come back, and i got so excited because they remembered her without me bringing her up first. then i spent ages writing a reply that didn't sound too excited, which is a ridiculous way to spend a nice thing. i told my friend in Colorado and she sent about fifteen messages back, mostly yelling, so i let myself be happy about it for a while. my mom asked why i was smiling and i said nothing. now i feel kind of mean about that. i don't want to show her the whole account, but i could have said somebody liked a thing i made. that isn't the same as giving up every private corner of my life.
