Mind
Opened a sample page from the coordinator course and got stuck on a question I could probably answer out loud in somebody's kitchen. On paper it had three answers that all sounded respectable and one word in each that changed the meaning. I read too fast because I wanted proof that I could still study, then had to go back. Wrote the situation in my own words and it became clearer. That doesn't mean the whole course will be easy, but it also doesn't mean I've forgotten how to think because a page looks formal. I'm keeping the question beside my notebook to try again tomorrow without the answer showing. My daughter says that's what she does. She looked pleased to be the one giving instructions.
Body
Filled a bowl with warm water for my feet and sat down before finding anything else that needed doing. The left heel was sore when I first put it in, then mostly I could feel the warmth spreading round my ankles and the little crease marks from my socks. My daughter brought my drink over without asking why I hadn't got it myself. I was grateful for that, and for the chair being the right height. Leaned back and felt how tired my shoulders were once I wasn't holding them ready for the next task. Nothing fixed in ten minutes, but I was more comfortable. Stayed there until the water started cooling, then sat a little longer because getting up was still entirely optional.
Emotion
One of my clients told me about a dance she went to when she was young, and every time I thought the story was finished there was another man she hadn't mentioned yet. I laughed so hard she started laughing at me. Usually people ask her about her meals, her appointments, how she's managing, all necessary things. Today she was just a woman telling a funny story and enjoying her audience. I felt fond of her in a different way, less protective, more like sitting with my aunt. When I left she said she had plenty more where that came from. I believe her. It put me in a good mood all the way to the bus, even with the bus taking its own sweet time.
